FAQ

Questions, answered.

General

What is LightClient?

A free Minecraft launcher built for performance, customization, and a smoother experience. Made in France.

Is it free?

Yes - the launcher is 100% free. Only optional cosmetics cost money, and they change nothing about the game. You still need to own Minecraft Java.

Are you affiliated with Mojang?

No. LightClient is an independent project by a small French team.

Safety & Bans

Is it safe?

Yes, and you can verify it yourself : every release ships with a SHA-256 checksum, and we encourage you to scan the installer on VirusTotal. Builds are not code-signed yet, so Windows SmartScreen may warn on first run - signing is planned.

Will I get banned on servers?

No. LightClient does not modify the game in ways that trigger anticheats. You are however responsible for the mods you install.

Do you steal my Microsoft account?

Never. We use the official Microsoft OAuth flow. Your password never touches our servers - it goes directly to Microsoft.

Installation

How do I install?

Click Download anywhere on the site, run the installer, sign in with Microsoft, play.

System requirements?

Windows 10/11. 4 GB RAM minimum (8 GB recommended). Java is bundled. A Linux build is planned; there is no macOS build for now.

Do I need a Microsoft account?

Yes - a valid, paid Microsoft/Minecraft account. We do not support cracked accounts.

Features

Which versions are supported?

From 1.7 to 1.21.11, with Fabric and Forge. Each instance keeps its own mods and Java settings.

Can I use mods?

Yes - Forge, Fabric, OptiFine, and most standalone mods are supported.

Does it boost FPS?

The launcher ships sensible JVM and memory defaults, which helps on most setups. Power users can fine-tune everything.
